Naughty North's Ultimate Dildo Size Guide
Dildos come in all shapes, sizes and colours, so we at Naughty North understand that choosing the right one for your body can be confusing. That’s why we have created this visual guide to allow you to make an informed decision and end up with a dildo that puts a big smile on your face.
COMMON TERMS USED TO DESCRIBE DILDO SIZE
- Length: This is the term used for the overall dildo size from the very bottom of the base up to the tip of the head.
- Insertable length: The length that you can physically put inside your body, usually measured from the top of the testicles upwards or the top of the base upwards (if the dildo has no testicles)
- Width: The width across the widest insertable part of the dildo.
- Girth: The measurement around the widest part of the dildo
LENGTH: WHERE DO I START?
Knowing the size of an average penis is a great place to start. A recent study by the British Journal of Urology International showed that a soft, or flaccid penis is 9.16 cm (3.61 inches) by 9.31 cm (3.66 inches) in girth (around the penis). An erect penis averages 13.12 cm (5.16 inches) long and 11.66 cm (4.59 inches) in girth.
HOW DO I JUDGE A GOOD LENGTH FOR MY BODY?
Who knew that the humble pop can could be used as a barometer for dildo size? The average pop can is 4.83 inches high, with a diameter (width) of 2.13 inches across the top and 2.6 inches at the widest point of the body. Pick up your nearest pop can and really consider if you can handle that 12 inch long, 3 inch thick dildo.
HOW DO I JUDGE A GOOD WIDTH FOR MY BODY?
Don't forget that as you go up in length, those dildos will get much wider. Here is a rough estimate of what you can expect in terms of width for corresponding height. Again, grab that pop can and wrap your hand around it, then have a think about what you can handle.
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN WIDTH AND GIRTH?
The average penis owner tends to measure their penis around, which is the girth. Dildo manufacturers rarely list the girth of their products and instead like to stick with width measurements. If you are more familiar with the concept of girth, you can look up an online calculator so you don't even have to do math!
